A family music class for children ages 0-4 and a parent or caregiver. Singing, movement, instrument play, nursery rhymes, games, stories, and ear training, building a solid music and preschool foundation.

Let's Play Music

A 3-year music theory course that builds total musicianship through piano playing, singing, classical music, note reading, and ear training, and it is all accomplished through play.

Hi, I'm Ms. Rachel!

Music has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I sang a solo in church when I was four years old! I am passionate about engaging students in musical development from an early age, and most of all, I love to laugh and have fun.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Utah, taught middle school choir and theatre for nine years, and serve as the Cyber Circle Director for satellite Let's Play Music teachers across the United States. Perkins Music Studio is located in Murfreesboro, TN, off Barfield Road, between New Salem Highway and Veterans Parkway.

What ages are the classes for?

Sound Beginnings is for children ages 0 to 4 with a parent or caregiver. Let's Play Music is for ages 4 to 6.

Does a parent stay for class?

Yes. In Sound Beginnings a parent or caregiver takes part in every class. In Let's Play Music parents join in too, practicing at home and attending together.

How long is Let's Play Music?

It is a three-year course. Classes meet weekly for 45 to 55 minutes in small groups of 7 to 8 children, with a showcase every spring.

Can we start Sound Beginnings mid-year?

Yes. Sound Beginnings runs in six semesters and families can enroll any time, with no prerequisites.

What does it cost?

Sound Beginnings is $25 registration per semester, per family, plus tuition and about $45 in student materials for new families. Let's Play Music is $80 per month tuition with a $56 registration fee, plus $72 to $98 in materials per year (plus tax and shipping).
